The Essex Athletics Network is delighted to announce the appointment of Hayley Pegg as our Network Volunteer Coordinator.

The new part-time role was appropriately advertised on 9 January 2012 to coincide with the 200 days to go 2012 landmark and after an interview process Hayley Pegg has taken up the challenge of supporting the Network's clubs in recruiting volunteers, including those who may be new to athletics, through a programme linked to the England Athletics “Are You Ready?” campaign.

Hayley, an active athlete, coach and official with Chelmsford AC, already works at the Southend West School Sports Partnership – one of the Network’s external partners – where she was closely involved in Eastwood  Academy’s ambitious project which resulted in the opening of a state-of-the-art six-lane Mondo track last September. She is also studying part-time for a BSc Sports & Exercise Performance Degree at another of the Network’s partners, Writtle College.

Steve Reynolds, the Network Chairman, said “I’m very pleased that following her successful interview Hayley has agreed to accept this role. She brings to the Network her experience of running athletic programmes and successfully recruiting volunteers and she has a real passion to make things happen!”.

Hayley said “I’m very excited about this new role and I’m looking forward to working closely with all Essex Athletics Network clubs and finding a new group of people who we can introduce into the world of athletics to help clubs with their annual events, competitions and training sessions”.
